Help me! I am so confused...

by Praying4my2nd, Jul 11, 2008 11:26AM
I am supposed to be 18 weeks pregnant tomorrow. My EDD is December 13th by my LMP. I have had bleeding twice in this pregnancy so far. The first time I was 9 weeks pregnant. They did an ultrasound and said the baby looked fine. At 14 weeks, I had some bleeding again so they checked my HcG levels and said that they were very low and had decreased. They said there was no way I was 14 weeks pregnant and that I was having a miscarriage. They said I would pass the baby within a couple of weeks and sent me on my way. That was 4 weeks ago and I have had no bleeding or cramping since. Then 2 days ago, I started feeling the baby move. At first I thought it was all in my head and I just wanted to feel the baby move, but it gave me a firm kick this morning. This is my second pregnancy, so I know it's the baby.  If the baby is moving, I take that as the baby is still growing just fine. What should I do now? Do you think I am still going to lose this baby? Do you think I have a chance at having a healthy baby? Please help me!

I can feel my baby move at 19 weeks all the time.  So I would think it is a good sign, however, Have you been going to your doctor for regular monthly checkups?  If so, then they would be able to find a fetal heartbeat by now and they should be getting ready to do an ultrasound.  If not, you really should be going to the doctor, if insurance is a problem there is always free women's health clinics in most towns.  Your doctor will find a heartbeat using a doppler machine and that will confirm you suspicion of whether or not baby is okay.  Also you can get fetal doppler machines on EBAY and/or rent them online, just google it.  If you indeed did have a miscarriage, you really should be going to the doctor so you can have a  D&C done, b/c you did not pass the baby naturally.  I hope that helps!

I agree with durhamjk -- healthy pregnancy or not you should be seeing your doctor. We cant give you any reassurances about if your pregnancy is going to be healthy or if you will suffer a miscarriage - your doctor has an ultrasound and they can.

Make an appt with your doctor ASAP. If you dont like that doctor, find a new one. If neither works, go to the ER during the day when the ultrasound people are there.

Hopefully you can get some resolve.

And remember, your HCG levels go up super high at the beginning of the pregnancy and then start declining again and level off at a lower number. Here's a graph:
