alcoholic cardiomyopathy

Please could you explain what alcoholic cardiomyopathy entails. The reason for my question is that I never knew my father until recently when trying to trace him I found out that he had died, and this is what was recorded on the death certificate. Is this a hereditary condition.

I believe alcoholic cardiomyopathy is a result of the abuse of alcohol, so it wouldn't directly be an inherited condition.  There is discussion that alchohol abuse is an inherited tendency but that doesn't really fit your question.
