My son was potty trained at age 3, Now he is 4 and is back to pooping in his underware once or twice a day 3-4 times a week! What can I do! I've tried having him clean his mess, took away he's fav. toys and no t.v. Nothings worked! Im running out of paticene My Dad (grandpa) says give him a spanking ( I dont want to spank my kids) Please Help! Im running out of options!

Adopting a punitive approah will not help and will likely only exacerbate the problem. The first thing to do is have him examined by his pediatrician to rule out impacted bowels. This is often the problem when children who appear to have matered toilet training regress. It's also possible that your son really was not entirely toilet trained. In any case, if he is OK medically, based somewhat on his pattern of bowel movements, have him sit on the potty a couple of times each day. Reward his for successful attempts. Take a supportive, patient approach to this. Make every effort to control your emotions and respond with equanimity, not frustration and anger.
