How stressful!  I really dont know what to say.  I would just keep trying to get ahold of the doctor, and scrub your daughter down!

What is that disease?  What does it cause?

by lolagrl, Jul 12, 2008 11:09AM
it just causes a rash but it is caused by a viral exanthum that can cause fetal problems including death.for a child it just appears as maybe the child is gettin sick with a slight fever or achyness and then a rash appears usually beginning on the cheeks and spreadin throughout the body...

I did some research on this for you and here is what I found:

"Fortunately, about half of all pregnant women are immune from having had a previous infection with parvovirus. Serious problems occur in less than 5% of women who become infected during pregnancy."

That being said, because you don't even know if your child is infected with this virus it really brings down the odds that anything will happen to you :)  She would have to have caught it, and then it be passed on to you. Plus, you may have already be immune to the virus and not even know it :)

I wouldn't worry. If your daughter gets the fever/cold then it may be a first indicator. Watch out for this and a rosy rash on her face. If she doesn't appear with these symptoms then you will know you are ok :)  You both could always go in for the blood test too, but if your doctors are anything like the ones here in Canada, they won't test unless their are symptoms present..

I think you'll be fine. :)  Let us know what your doctor says when you get in touch with him! :)
