My fasting blood sugar was 94, my Hemoglobin a1c was 6.1, I have slightly elevated cholesterol and normal triglicerides. I just had this work done and I got laid off with no warning so now I am without health insurance. I have had a couple of instances of blured vision usually when I look up from reading. My Dr's office said I have diabetes. I have a large balance and just spoke with them by phone. I was put on metformin a while ago for insulin resistance. I quit taking it. I still have refills. should I take it.

Click on to the Doctor site and they will be able to give you an answer,.There are sometimes low cost clinics out there for people with no Insurance, Have a look in your area, put it into with the Area into the search engine.

Your A1c results of 6.1% normally means border line diabetes. The lab will indicate the low and high marks next to the score. Your fasting glucose, however, does not indicate diabetes, but if your A1c is over the high mark now is the time to correct your diet - low sugar, no bad carbs.
