Front tooth in pain, have braces

by mgarcia85, Jul 12, 2008 03:40AM
I got a thicker wire places on about 3 weeks ago, I was in pain for the first few days as usual then it went away. My very front tooth is pretty thin, anyways I was eating a tortilla taco and I bite down and pulled (using my front teeth) and at the time it hurt but not much, like I stopped and just tore it with my hands.

Later that day though it was really sore and hurt like crazy (the one thin front tooth.) I figured no big deal it is just sore and all will be well in a few days, well it has been almost 2 weeks since this happened and this tooth still hurts. It'll heal up and the pain won't be there, but I can tell it's still sore so I won't eat with my front teeth to try and let it heal and it starts to do so, but then the next day it'll hurt again. It doesn't seem to be reverting back to 100% strength, as I said it's thin but was always fine.

Should I be concerned that I pulled on it too hard? It didn't bleed or anything, it's just sore. I go back to the ortho on the 17th and will let them know.

Could I have permanently damaged this tooth? I didn't pull super hard or anything, just enough to tear the tortilla, or is it normal for it to be sore this long while all my other teeth are fine. Again, this tooth is pretty thin.

Thanks!

Seeing your orthodontist is advised.
