How many of you are diabetics?

by JBonny, Jul 12, 2008 12:03PM
I have greatly enjoyed this forum.  Just had TIA on Tuesday.  Scared to death.  I have Type 2 diabetes.  None of you mentioned having this as part of your protocol.  Am I the only one?

Hi Im Phyllis and my husband recently had a stroke and he is Type 2. His on Lantus. He had his stroke on June 13 and it had effected his speech only and has a little swelling in his brain. He got discharged on the 26 of June but 2 nights ago I had rushed him to the hospital he had mild chest pains but it disappered when we got there. They did more tests and may have found a partial blockage in a artery that is in his lower heart. So we are seeing a cardiology on Monday....It is a scary feeling he is only 43 years old. Hope to hear from you soon. And can you tell me what were you feeling the time of your TIA and how do you feel today.

I was on the phone w/sister.  I was beginning to be confused by what she was saying.  Gave phone to my husband.  He concluded conversation.  After handing off the telephone, noted that the hand I was holding it in was numb ... thought maybe from holding phone too long.  That went away.  Then trying to talk to my husband, I couldn't make words come out right.  We have a two syllable last name - could only say first syllable.  Knew something was very wrong.  Had him take me to ER.  They diagnosed stroke immediately.  Remained overnight.  Lots of tests, CAT, echo, MRI, ultra sound of carotoids.  Dismissed the next day.  With, "take more aspirin".  Quit smoking.  I still feel lousy.  Very nauseated.  No appetitie.  Scared.  Need to go to PCC and a neurologist.  High state of anxiety.  Tks for responding.  May I add, I am not insulin dependent.  Just metformin.
