by missouriangel, Jul 12, 2008 02:20PM
Thyroid Uptake Scan June 08
INDICATION FOR PROCEDURE: Thyroid mass, tenderness left side. Multiple other symptomatologies. No evidence of exophthalmus.
FINDINGS: The examination revealed a 12% uptake which is lower limits of normal. (normal 24-hour uptake 10-33%)
Thyroid imaging: Imaging in the AP and oblique projections suggests slight asymmetrical enlargement of the left lobe of the thyroid gland as well as the presence of an area of photopenia within the inferior pole of the left lobe. A nodule measuring approximately 2-2.5cm in diameterr is suspected within the inferior pole. There is relatively uniform distribution of the radionuclide within the remaining lobes of the thyroid gland.
IMPRESSION: Cold nodule inferior left lobe. Sonographic imaging and FNA is recommended for further evaluation.

Fine Needle Aspiration
INDICATION FOR PROCEDURE: Cold left lower thyroid nodule.
IMPRESSION: Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration of a 2.6x1.8cm heterogenous solid nodule in the lower pole of the left thyroid gland. No complications.
Comments: FEW FOLLICULAR CELLSMACROPHAGES, WBC'S, AND RBC'S PRESENT SMALL AMOUNT OF COLLOID PRESENT SUGGESTIVE OF THYROIDITIS
Diagnosis: Negative for malignancy.

THYROXINE 5.3 (4.8-13.9)   TSH 0.39 (0.27-4.7)

I see it is neg. so I don't have cancer. Can it turn into cancer later? What does the Thyroiditis mean?
