Versulities or something else

by rashnitu, Jul 12, 2008 03:01PM
Hi

Its a long term illness of my mother, so I am explaining it from the start.

My mother is 57 years old and since last 20 years she has a kind of problem of itchyness in her whole body.Since last 20 years its comes and go and she showed to lot many doctors in India but they said they this is happening because of some allergy.
Now last months its again started and the condition was very sever. The symtom is as follows----- its start with a kind of red patches in her whole body and then that spot on the body itche a lot and become black. We called it PITTI in India.
This time doctor did some type of skin test and he said that she has Articular Vesculities. Now I donot understand how a articular vesculities can give this king of skin allergy and doctor said that its in intially stage. So, now, can any body pl suggest me what kind of treatment should I go for and the doctor too in sacramento or any where who can treat my mother. She is in USA at present.

Please help me out in this regard as I am not sure wheather the doctor diagnosis is right or wrong.

Do you mean that she has been diagnosed with Articular Vasculitis?  If so, I would suggest she see a rheumatologist.

Hi Rash and welcome to our forum. Let me begin by saying that there are many types of Vasculitis .  In Vasculitis the blood vessels become inflamed which cause the layers of the blood vessel wall to thicken,  Aside from the itchy patches has your mom experienced  any other symptoms such as weight loss, fever, joint pain, fatigue?  Some forms of Vasculitis are the result of some immune system  diseases such as RA, Lupus, Sjogrens, or an allergic reaction to a medication especially antibiotics.  There are 2 or 3 types of vasculitis that present with rashes on the skin such as your mothers.  I urge you to bring her to either a rheumatologist or immunologist for blood work, she needs her sed rate, CRP, platelets, white blood cell count, ANA etc checked.  Has anyone done a biopsy of the rash?  These are the things I would suggest you start with.  Please keep us updated on how you are making out and we are here for you to help with any resources we can provide to get the right diagnosis and treatment for your mom.
