Time for a real good Second opionion???

by Dixie, Apr 10, 2007 12:00AM
Ok I've posted once before after a L4-L5 lumbar fusion and laminectomy post 11 months still have major pain/numbness radiating down the left leg.  Surgeon requested an MRI which showed nothing.  He had me see his non-surgical partner who then perfomed an EMG and requested a Pelvic MRI:
Yesterday I saw him to go over the results of both tests.  EMG was suggestive that there was some nerve damage.  Pelvic MRI shows 1) 2 cm "synovial cyst" in the left hip joint capsule posteriorly at the basiocervical level. 2) Bilateral pariendonitis involving the distal glutenus minimus tendons in the trochanteric bursa. 3) Moderate subchondral degenerative changes in the left acetabulum 4) Moderate SI joint with DJD of the sacrocconcygeal junction 5) Paraspinal muscle edema at the lumbosacral junction.  I assume the last is due to my surgery.  No one can give me answers I've been tested to the hilt and now i'm being sent to another set of dr.s to receive more steroidal injections in the SI joint area.  Any suggestions is it time for a real good second opinion what would any of you do?

When no one can give me answers after I've been tested to the hilt, I seek a second opinion.  Another physical medicine & rehabilitation doctor could evaluate the tests and give you an opinion.

Thank you for your input.  Do you know what they do about synovial cysts anyway??
