Macular Degeneration at 3 year old boy

by Pien, Jul 12, 2008 03:52PM
Two weeks ago we heard that my son - 3 years old,(and daughter- 5 years old) , has the syndrome of ehlers danlos. Two days later they found that there was liquid behind his macular and that he has a view from only fifty percent. The doctor said that he had never seen this before at a child, only at people from age 60 and up. It can be a very rare symptom of EDS, but they really don't know how to treat it: can he be treated as an adult or not? He is calling his collegues for two weeks now, but nobody knows what to do. So my questions are:
-is this a symptom of EDS;
-is there anything they can do about it;
-does he need the same treatment as an adult;
-how is the development of macular degeneration at a child?

Thank you.
