Nuchal Translucency Screening

by Hope2OneDay, Jul 12, 2008 03:55PM
I'm due to get the NTS on the 22nd. I didn't do this during my first pregnancy. Do they do a vaginal ultrasound to see the baby? Just curious about the details. I know they measure the baby's fold of skin on its neck and they do blood work on me. Do they tell you immediately whether the measurements look good, or do you have to wait until the blood tests are complete to get the full results. I'd hope they could at least tell you if the measurements seem normal at the time they do the ultrasound.

Also, did your insurance cover the test (for anyone who has had it done)?

When i had my NT screening done they did not do a vaginal u/s ... it is just a high tech u/s machine.. it usually takes abut 30-45 mins.. its really amazing to watch bc they let you see the whole time. With mine the doctor told me from what  she could see everything looked ok, but i then still had t wait for my results to come back. So i guess depending on your doctor, they may or may not tell you what they see.

also, my insurance did cover the test.. i am with United Health Care.
