by KittyPresouz, Jul 12, 2008 06:46PM
I was told I had sinus infection but I didnt even know I did? I have TERRIBLE ear and neck pain and lower skull pain and I was on antibiotics for 3 weeks to no  avail. Neck pain so bad I could touch my neck vein and it was so sore and I had pain shoot to my temples.. OMG!!!!  ICE PACK helped thanks God but... next I spent hundreds of dollars at an ENT and Swallow study and CT scan of sinus and neck only for the ENT to say he has no answers and keep taking the Naproxen he gave me and check back in 2 months!? OMG yes my sinus are a little swollen but not enough for any more antibiotics.  I am broke and still in pain!! Any one have this too?

Hi,
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, which may or may not be as a result of infection, from bacterial, fungal, viral, allergic or autoimmune issues.

Sinusitis can be acute (going on less than four weeks), which would be the case with you.Acute sinusitis is usually precipitated by an earlier upper respiratory tract infection, generally of viral origin. Virally damaged surface tissues are then colonized by bacteria.

Headache/facial pain (characteristic of Sinusitis pain are dull, constant, aching pain over the affected frontal or sphenoid sinus area) is one of the general symptom complained during acute. This pain (i.e. facial pain (pressure), headache) is typically localised to the involved sinus and is worsened when the affected person bends over or when in supine position.

Therapeutic measures range from the medicinal to the traditional and may include nasal irrigation or jala neti using a warm saline solution, hot drinks including tea and chicken soup, over-the-counter decongestants and nasal sprays, and getting plenty of rest. Analgesics (such as aspirin, paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen) can be used.

Thank you so much for the time to reply.  I have forgotten about HOT SOUP and TEA!! That did help me in the winter time when I had something.  I just cant get rid of the itchy ears that led to burning in my ears!! This seems to have started it all... it moved to my glands and went nuts in my upper body.. Thanks again
