Bipolar Disorder comes with emotional highs and can go into emotional lows.  Depression comes with only the emotional lows, no emotional highs. ADD would be like having a short attention span or hard time concentrating on things. All of these disorders can only be diagnosed by a doctor, preferrably a Psychiatrist who deals with mental disorders.  Some types of bipolar disorder shouldn't have antidepressant therapy...it can make things worse.  I know that it can be frustrating when meds become less effective for you and you have to go about finding the right one or combo again.  Hope this helps a little, best wishes to you
