Can I be helped?

by xSunshinex, Jul 12, 2008 07:03PM
Is there any FREE detox available? I'm sick and tired of devoting my life and my money to finding a fix. I'm only 21 and I just want to have fun again. I have fun when i'm high but it's just too expensive, especially now that I am unemployed. I can't even THINK of getting a job if I am withdrawling. I'm so over this...

If you have tried everything under the sun, you might want to find a buprenorphine doctor.  I had to.  Google that word.

by sadinmichigan, Jul 13, 2008 04:59AM
as extmeski said..wish it was that easy..but the truth is..it takes a willingless like no other to get this done..It takes alot of hard work, but work that is more than worth it. Depending what your on ,your looking at about a week of feeling like ****..the physical w/ds are actually the easier part of addiction..staying clean and all the mental stuff that goes with it is the fight..Definitley check out some meetings in your area for extra support, keep posting here..There are alot of wonderful people and you will have much support here as well..Do you have anyone you can confide in ?I am glad you are making this decision..you are still quite young and you don't want a life of this..Even if $$ was no object..the fun doesn't last..not for anyone. so congrats..admitting the need to quit..is your first step.

Look in the health Pages on the right of page. Check out the Thomas recipe. It is for c/t detox. It helps some. Hylands makes a good RLS formula.

by avisg, Jul 13, 2008 11:22AM
wanna ,unforunatly AA and NA does not have a detox program they do offer a recovery program ..

by addictedme, Jul 13, 2008 11:28AM
NA can guide you to a detox facility as they take meetings into these places as well as hospitals and jails,,gl

by wannabefree330, Jul 13, 2008 11:50AM
my apologies, I mis read the question.  Hang in there sunshine, these first few days are the worst.  If you can get someone to go pick up the things suggested on the thomas recipe and amino acid protocol those help ease alot of your symptoms.  If you have a bathtub, try that instead of the shower.  Its going to be hard to sit still these first few days, but you are at the worst of it.  It does get better.  NA/AA has people who have been where you are as well, you may also get some other suggestions on what worked for them.  Just keep going, tell yourself YOU CAN!

by xSunshinex, Jul 13, 2008 05:09PM
Doesn't NA preach to you? like about religion and stuff like that. I'm not sure that would fly with me. I took a look at that recipe. i'm going to try it. unfortunatly, i've failed. i got a few bags about 4 hours ago...i can't believe im telling this to you guys. eventhough i don't know any of you, i feel like i've let you down. thanks for all the encouragement... i will try again to quit soon...i could make excuses for a life time about going out and getting stuff...but thats a drug addict for you, right? ugh, i disgust myself... your words did not fall upon deaf ears... its just so hard to just "deal with it". I was able to get my hands on half of a suboxone. those are supposed to be like a miracle drug. but the visit itself is $200 and the prescription is twice that.

anyway, thanks for the kind words and the advice...

Hi,
My name is Bray. I have been on Suboxine since 6-26-08. I feel pretty good. Other chat rooms I have gone to on NA sites I think don't agree your clean if you are using a drug replacement., but for me it is how I can get to work. , how I get up in the morning, how I manage the cravings. I Haven't used at all since I started the program.I posted earlier in a wrong place, I had a question about f2f meetings. There are no face to face meetings in our town, there is only one alanon , of course AA. I am also. acoa, adult child of alchocolics, & co dependent, I went to acoa mettings from 1988 till the late 90's when they all died out in our city. Seems when I read though the web site & others that people have sponser, & f2f meeti ngs. Is this the norm for everyone?
Thanks
Bray

I know you don't want to hear how young you are and that you need to stop it now.  But the truth is what it is.  I'm here now because I need to kick this ultram habit.  I understand you.  I do.  I use to snort, pop, shoot, coke, crack, herion, methodone, preludes, vics, lsd, acid, week, alcohol, and this is only a short version of the list.  I've been hooked on something as long as I can remember me.  Kicked crack about 13 years ago, and picked up tramadol, worst mistake of my life.  Now here I am 8 days clean and withdrawing.  It was much easier to quit smoking crack and shooting coke then to stop taking ultram. straight up, no joke.  So don't think it'll get any easier over time.  Don't kid yourself about anything.

I believe you CAN find a detox facility that doesn't charge if you can't pay. Check community mental health in the phone book, or see if your area has a crisis hotline. AND not OR go to NA.  They do not preach at all.....but what if they did, at this stage??? You want help getting off heroin that is free and where no one will preach to you, right? Can you see how silly that sounds?  Just make the decision that you will do whatever it takes to be free from chains that come with a bad drug habit -- then do it.

Never mind -- I looked it up for you:

I never hae been on heroin thank goodness, but I'd be willing to bet that the patches I used to be on are equivalent.  I was shocked at how strong they were (after the fact of course).  One 100mcg patch is like 200 mgs of oxycodone or 300 mgs of hydrocodone.  Anyway I did the c/t thing and although it wasn't a great experience it can be done.  Get some help, it's no life living for drugs.  Even though I wasn't doing heroin, the mental feelings are the same.  If you are running out you get panicky, buy expensive stuff on the street (not in the nicest area).  Not a great lifestyle at all.

Well, Incase sunshine hasnt been totally run off the forum, I'll take a shot at answering the question asked, YES, THERE ARE SUCH THINGS AS FREE DETOX! This is not my opionion nor a thought I might think to be true. It is a researched and educated answer. Though I do not recommend them there are many clinics that will put you on a methadone program.( to get you clean), I'll spare you my reasons for my opinion for now.
There is also SUBOXONE, which is also used to get you clean. Many people don't know but each dr. authorized to dispense subs has a two patient freebie limit. Yep, outta 100
