Possible Prozac Effects?

by SIlverHammer, Jul 12, 2008 08:48PM
I've started taking 10mg of Prozac for almost a month now for anxiety and I've been getting a few different effects going on.  I've been getting pressure headaches in the back of my head, sometimes I feel light-headed.  I'm tending to space out a bit more than usual and getting drowzy (They said that would most likely happen, so I should take my meds at night).  And the past few nights when I've woken up, my hands have fallen asleep.  I am pretty active as I lift weights constantly and I'm in pretty decent shape.  Anyone have any clue about whether it's the medication?

How are you? Prozac belongs to a group of  selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Side effects of Prozac may include: drowsiness, dizziness, weakness;
runny nose, sore throat, headache, flu symptoms;  nausea, diarrhea, changes in appetite;  weight changes; decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or dry mouth, increased sweating. You can read more about this through this link: http://www.drugs.com/prozac.html

Take care and regards.

I am 26 years old and take 40mg of Prozac with no side effects at all.  The medications affect everyone differently, for instance 25mg of Zoloft made me shake and throw up.  So it may or may not be your medication.  At first on Prozac it was a little hard to fall asleep and stay asleep, and my mouth was always dry, but it goes away after a couple of weeks.  My fiance's mother takes 20mg of Prozac and gets a little nauseus and drowsy for a while, so it could be.  You should talk with your doctor to see, maybe you just need to switch your medication.

P.S.  My anxiety made me worry that every little thing going on with me was the medication screwing with me.  But I got over it once I felt better.  That could be what's going on with you.  And when I get anxiety, I get dizzy too!

I was on Prozac for a year or so no problems.  A few years later I was put on it again and quickly developed headaches that wouldn't go away.  No appitite too.  I can't go back on it.
