First --- welcome to the forum.

Are you Hepatitis C positive?

Know that your liver plays a big role in your body's functioning - which means if it is not functioning - all sorts of things can happen... You can seriously get mentally ill from having liver functions that are not working properly.

Find out what the liver does --- find out what you can do to help it...

THAT WILL HELP your anxiety.

Another thing is to talk to a psychologist...

I don't know how far along your cirrhosis has gone... nor do I know your personal circumstances ---- like as in --- are you a drinker? Have you stopped drinking? Are you taking medications? did you have anxiety prior to the cirrhosis. Do you have any mental health issues?

How healthy are you...

How old are you --- what are you doing to get "stress-free"?

How are you currently dealing with it?

Do you prefer medications? Spirituality healing? Mental health healing? Food and Exercise healing? Vitamins?

I mean - it all comes down to who  you are --- and what is exactly wrong with you -- and how you can deal with it --- or make it better.

That's about the nut and shell of it all.

Talk to us --- we may not be able to answer you perfectly - but each of us, in our own way has had some experience that we can share with you ---- that might give you some ideas or help.

Ativan (lorazapam) is very helpful for anxiety and its a liver-friendly drug.  Good luck to you, I hope you can get some relief.

Being well educated and determined not to take any any anti-d's (would hurt my pride lol) I found myself on Xanex by week 8.As you may know the Interferon can cause chemical changes in the brain so even if you've never used them before know that many do use them temporarily. It's OK.You want to get through this the best you can. Physically and mentally.I take a low dose of .25 mg and it is just enough to take the edge off.Every little thing was starting to bother me. The t/v's too loud, the lights too bright, the pencil is not sharp enough and so forth. Now there is a difference between Anxiety and Depression and different meds (if you choose to use them) would be used,Tell your doctor about your feelings right away.He will most likely refer you to a shrink.(I use that word all the time now. I used to think they were just for crazy people lol) Some of the depression meds take a couple weeks to start working. How ever you choose to deal with this, and what ever is right for you, remember that yes, this is quite a lot to handle and would be perfectly understandble if you sought help for it.I'm sure you doctor has dealt with tihs type of situation many times before and has advice of someone to see.Best of luck to you.
