by aasic, Jul 13, 2008 06:35AM
I was diagonised of having genital warts, whereas my partner has no signs of it. I got them removed by a dermatologist who gave anesthesis and burnt them. We are planning to get married in another 4-5 months. Can we lead a normal married life and start a family? Please help

Yes, you can lead a normal married life and start a family.  Genital warts are due to the HPV virus, which is the most common sexually transmitted disease.  It is possible that you will never have an outbreak of warts again.  You might still be contagious, but the virus usually clears within 8-12 months (sometimes it can be longer, it really depends on the individual person).  Once the virus clears, you will not be contagious to your partner.  It is possible that your partner has already been exposed to your HPV virus, but is asymptomatic (most people are).  However, generally HPV causes no serious health consequences and should not prevent you from getting married and starting a family.
Good luck,
Em
