Breast cancer men

I am a 48 year old man who started taking a herbal remedy for prostate symptoms about three years ago. I have gained from 58kga to 70 kgs and have developed gynecomastia. My libido is reduced and I am a lot less aggressive and calmer. If I stop, then the prostate symptoms return and I got other prostate medications, but they give me headaches and make me dizzy.( In my work I am often up a ladder) The herbs work well so I am using them. My mother got breast cancer and died ten years later after all kinds of treatment. I have heard that men also get breast cancer. Is it possible for me to get breast cancer if I carry on with the herbs?

Dear qwerty60, Male breast cancer is rare, but one out of every 150 cases of breast cancer involves a man, usually in men over 60 years old.  There are certain risk factors that increase a man’s risk of breast cancer these include: radiation exposure particularly to the chest area, high levels of estrogen, cirrhosis of the liver, certain inherited gene mutations particularly BRCA-2.   As to whether or not a specific herbal remedy would increase your risk of breast cancer it is impossible for us to say one way or the other.  Be sure to review the supplements you are taking with your primary care doctor, so they can advise you.
