Dramatic Difference in TSI values over 2 weeks

by Mulan6, Jul 14, 2008 10:24AM
I begged my doctor to test for thyroid problems.  From testing on 6/17/08, the results were:

thyroid stimulating immunoglob : 141 (high, range 0-129)
Thyroxine T4, free (direct)         : 0.94 (range 0.61-1.76)
TSH                                       : 1.605 (range 0.350-5.500)
Triiodothyronine (T3)                : 133 (range 85-205)

After consulting the internet for some guidance, I asked for testing for thyroid antibodies.

From testing on 7/1/08, the results were:

TSI                                         : 87  (range 0-129, as above)
Antithyroglobulin Ab                :   <20 (range 0-40)  (no exact value provided)

Any idea what can account for the nearly-60 point drop in the TSI values?

Thanks!

Pam

Maybe your immune system has been weakened, or was riled up and has now settled down?

Maybe lab error could account for some of the drop?

Maybe maybe maybe.

Your other bloodwork does not indicate a problem with TSI activity. That's good. Sort of makes you wonder why doctors don't think it's important to test for antibodies more than once, though.
