Burning in the Penis

by sebpep, Jul 14, 2008 10:27AM
I have a peculiar problem. Once in a while I get burning in the penis and there is the need to urinate. But during and after urination the burning increases. I get relief only after I ejaculate, which I usually do with masturbation. Please help me.

Hi,

It appears that you have an infection of the urinary tract, specifically the urethra.

You will need to have it treated with a course of antibiotics at the earliest to prevent spread to surrounding structures.

A urinalysis and culture sensitivity may be required to determine the infective organism and the specific antibiotics the organism is sensitive to.

Alternatively, you can start a course of broad-spectrum antibiotics while waiting for your test results.

You will need to keep your fluid intake over 2000 ml per day.
Add citrus fruits to your diet.
Do not resist the urge to pass urine.
Take tylenol for the pain every 4-6 hours.
Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.

Thanks a lot Dr. I will do this. But I was wondering why does it subside only with ejaculation? It always does. I dont like to do this though.  I thought it should have  subsided with urination. Its not always. This happens occasionally. And I think it happens if I have not ejaculated for a few days. The pain is so bad that I have this strong urge to masturbate to avoid this problem in the first place and before it occurs. And I drink a lot of water.

Hi,

SOmetimes, infrequent ejaculation can cause buildup of prostatic fluid in the prostate that may cause pain and burning sensation. This pain or burning sensation is usually relieved on ejaculation. Ideally, frequency of ejaculation is purported to be about 3-4 times per week.

Pain in the groin is usually attributed to the prostate.
Drinking lenty of water will help flush out any infective organisms.

you can also try sitting in a hot bath for 10-15 min twice daily to obtain relief from the pain.

Regards
