7 weeks pregnant

My wife is seven weeks pregnant and from undergoing ultrasound there were no signs of a heartbeat and the embryo was very small. Our physician has told us to visit him again next week. we are obviously very concerned. What are the chances we will here a heartbeat? and what are the reasons for this to happen?

Turns out I had miscalculated when I had conceived....and I was only 4 weeks pregnant.
You guys could have miscalculated. Generally a heartbeat isn't seen until 6-7 weeks...and if she isn't that far along...that could explain it. I would ask them do a quantitative HCG blood test as well. This will show if her HCG levels are doubling as they should.
