Need some somewhat educated answers here..

Exactly 3 months ago, to this day, I performed oral sex on a man I was seeing.  AFTER the fact he said "I wish I could have sex with you, it's just.. several years ago I was diagnosed with HPV." And my brain completely froze. He had fingered me, and i had performed oral on him and I already knew that had put me at risk, though how much at risk, I didn't and still do not know. He proceeded to tell me that it was the low risk infection and that he had the warts treated. He said they came back once but then went away again and he has not had another occurrence in 3 years.
I read all kinds of indefinite things about the body "clearing" the virus after a time, but the text never seems to elaborate on the risk that is still, if at all, posed to others. And of course there are the different schools of thought that  swear it never goes away and can reoccur 10+ years later.
Now, months after the sexual encounter, I am having very weird vaginal symptoms. It started out a little over a month ago with several of the sebaceous glands in and around my labia becoming irritated and, if squeezed or stretched, they would either pus or issue a small amount of sebum. Over the past month I have noticed a reddening of my vulva and the sebaceous glands have become very prominent. there is one part on my labia minora right next to my clitoris that is particularly prominent. I look up pictures of warts and it doesn't look like the pictures I see, and to the touch it's texture is the same as the rest of my labia. However i know warts can come in a grab bag of shapes and sizes.
So here are my questions:
1. Anyone know what the risk/likelihood might be that I would have caught hpv from my encounter?
2. I know the time span it takes for warts to appear (6 weeks to a year or so) but how long does it take for them to form? Is it a slow going gradual thing or is it like an overnight kind of "HEY! Here I am!" kind of thing?
3. What could the labial irritation and recent sebaceous prominence be due to if not HPV (if HPV can even be responsible for such a thing) and can HPV look like a line or a raised patch of sebaceous glands.
I appreciate any and all serious/ somewhat educated answers. However I really don't need suggestions like "SOUNDS LIKE HERPES" because I consider myself fairly educated as far as that virus goes.

if he hasn't had a wart outbreak in three years the liklihood is low u'd get them but then he tells u after he's had oral sex with u....wonder about his credibility!getting oral hpv warts is a rare occurrence...educate urself in the archives under Experts forum...Drs.Hook and Handsfield have a lot of experience with this!herpes shows up as blistering and this is not what ur describing.....u need to get examined by ur gyno to see whats going on here!

He was very forthcoming with his having hpv, he was just a bit slow on the draw about it and uneducated and didn't know it could be passed on through oral sex so I believe him when he says it's been a few years since he had them. He's not the brightest, but he is at least an honest guy.
I'm currently without health insurance for the next month and am considering just going to the ER to get checked out. It's utterly miserable to sit around and wonder what's going on without answers. 2 years ago I developed vulvodynia and I went batshit crazy for almost 6 months worrying about what was the cause behind my pain and discomfort. I have no desire to go through something similar again, even if it is just a month.

again the liklihood of getting genital warts or low risk hpv thru oral sex is low to nil.if he hasn't had warts for 3 years and there were none on his genitals ur  worrying needlessly.U r wasting ur $$$$ going 2 ER..go to a Planned Parenthood for a pap and checkup!

If you have ever had sex, chances are you already have had HPV in one form or another. I hate to tell you that, but it's so true. Just try to keep an excercise routine and a healthy diet so that your body can rid itself of any virus that may be there. Avoid smoking and heavy drinking!
