epi pain instantly after eating

I recently had a EGD/Colon and the results were that I had gastritis, inflammation, H.Pylori, and a small hiatal hernia. (the last scope I had in 2002 also showed hiatal hernia). I have already had my Gall bladder removed. Insstantly after eating, no matter what it is, I have a severe, shart, constant pain in the middle in the most uperpart of my stomach. Below my chest right where the stomach area begins. I have noticed that sometimes when I try to swallow I can't cause it feels as if I have a huge lump in my throat and can't swallow. But the pain that I am having has been a constant thing the past few days no matter what I eat. I called my Gastroenterologist and he mentioned it could be reflux. I have had reflux over 12 years and have never had any pain like this. It is completely different pain that heartburn. What could this be? Could it be from the hernia?

Yes, hernia is possible, or ulcus. Have you got antibiotics for H. pylori?

yes i am on 2 antibiotics for gastritis and for the h. pylori and pepcid also for reflux. it is almost instaneous after eating no matter what it is. bigger meals are alot more painful though.

If the pain, you're talking about, is in the throat, it is probably from acid, which may caused some inflammation. If, after antibiotics, this won't go away, you'll need to talk with a doctor about new anti-acid drugs, or even have an endoscopy.

I just had the egd/colon andthe pain is hard to describe. It is at the very top of my abdomen, kind of like right in the middle right under the breast. Its not chest pains and its not the burning like with ulcers/relfux. It is a more pressure type pain sometimes throbbing lasting anywhere between a few minutes to 30 minutes then followed by horrible stomach cramping. The pain is one that you know how people grab their stomach when it hurts? Well I always do that when it hurts its so bad. I am wanting to have the lapband operation on October but I am having to get GI clearance. They said they can fix the hernia at the same time.

This cramping pain sounds like a spasm comming from biliary duct. From either a trapped gallstone, sludge, biliary diskinesia, or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD). Ultrasound may hardly show anything. The first recommended invest. is MRCP (MRI of the biliary tract).

Would you reccoment that being that I have already had my gallbladder removed? The doctor mentioned possible stricture of the esophagus, althought on the egd a few weeks agi it wasnt noticed.

After gallbladder removal, you stilll have a biliary duct, which often causes problems (you can search through this forum...).

Esophageal disorders cause pain behind the breastbone, pain from biliary duct is where gallbladder was - about 4-5 inches from the middle to the right, under the lowest rib.

sounds like esophagitis which can be caused from reflux...I just had EGD/COLON done and was informed I had gastritis and esophagitis...they increased prilosec to bid...no Hpylori...they probably checked for that when they did the EGD...I'm a nurse.
