Syphilis Question

I recently gave another guy a blow job using protection. I was careful to roll the condom all the way down and did not see anything unusual.

However, when he was semi-erect I went down deep and may have made skin to skin contact.

My concern is, I had read that condoms do not protect  you as well regarding syphilis for this very reason. I had read ths STD is on the rise, so I wanted to know what you think. I may be paranoid, but i respect and trust your opinions. On that same subject, is it safe to get or give a handjob or kiss regarding syphilis.

Was this a safe encounter?

Or is there something to worry about?

This is a completely safe encounter.  You're not likely to get syphilis (or any other STD) with the minor skin-to-skin (or lip-to-skin) contact that you describe.  I woudn't worry about it and don't recommend STD testing.

No STD, including syphilis, is ever transmitted by hand jobs.  In principle, it's probably possible, but too rare to worry about. Certainly in 30+ years in the STD business, I have never seen any STD in which transmission by hand-genital contact was suspected.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD

What I meant to say was my face was kind of pressed into his groin, maybe my lips touched his scrotum or my face was in his pubic area. Does Syphilis have to touch a mucus membrane? This was a one time encounter.

Thank you for making me feel better. I suppose it is safe to conclude that giving protected oral sex is completly safe from STD's, so long as the condom stays intact and is worn properly?

This is what I had always thought. thanks for clearing that up and taking the time to write back so soon.

Best wishes to you also
