Scars around the Pelvic area

by Reddragon1989, Jul 14, 2008 08:09PM
I am 18 years old and was wandering what these scars are from. I do believe they are scars but from what i do not know. They have been apparent for years since 12 that i remember but possibly before that. They run from my Scrotum to the my thighs. I am just wandering if there is anyway that these marks could be from sexual molestation, my mom said that it could be from chicken pox and scratching them but i do not think that is what caused it. Is there anyway i could go to the doctors and see what it is from and if so would i want to go to a Dermatologist or someone of a different specialization??

Hi,

Your mother may be right about the cause of the scars.

Do you have any other associated symptoms of itching, rash , etc.

It would not be advisable to scrub the area too hard as this would irritate the skin. You should try to avoid sweat collection in the areas, keep the areas clean, maintain good personal hygiene, wear lose comfortable clothes. Apply calamine lotion at the sites.

Consult a skin specialist for your complaints and discuss whether a demelanising agent would help in your case. You could also talk to your skin specialist whether laser therapy or microdermabrasion would help.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Post us about what your doctor advises.

Regards.
