nervous twitch is stomach

by mybecca, Jul 14, 2008 09:01PM
Has anyone ever had a nervous twitch in their stomach?  I think that is what is happening to me. It is not an involuntary twitch. It is a discomfort that cases me to tighten or suck in my stomach muscles in a twitchy way. I had it as a teenager and it went away for more then a decade and has recently returned. I am figuring it is my anxiety but i am not sure. Has anyone experience anything like this? If so how do you cope? It is kind of embarrassing. It is not that obvious, but people close to me notice and it drives my husband nuts!

Yes, it just started happening to me recently, mine is a little more involuntary but I do have some control in making it stop or less noticeable. I hope noone notices because it is embarrassing. It only happens when im really nervous in panic mode. To cope, I pay it no mind and dont give it any attention and before I know its gone. Just so you know, your definately not the only one experiencing this!

Don't know if it's the same thing but when I lie down, if I'm anxious the muscles do get "twitchy" and uncomfortable, especially if I'm curled up.  I don't like it.  Sometimes I take gravol to help it relax but not too often because I don't want to get addicted.

Anxiety makes our bodies do extremely strange things.  I guess anxiety has to be expressed somehow and that's how it's doing it - rashes, hives, twitches, dizziness, etc.

thanks for letting me know i'm not alone in these bizzare ways anxiety seems to express itself in my body. I just found this forum and it is nice to know I'm not as alone in this as i often think i am
