This community is for questions and support for people with, or for loved ones of people who drink and are trying to quit. The forum covers topics ranging from
Health Issues, How to Quit, Reasons to Quit, Relapse Prevention, Friend and Family Support.
It's obvious that you have a problem based upon the post you have made and by your own admission.
If you're finding it so difficult to stop drinking on your own, you may want to check yourself into an in-patient program where you'll not have the opportunity because you'll be in a controlled enviornment.
If this isn't feasible many hospitals offer day programs(i.e. after work) where you can get the support you need to avoid alcohol.
A third option is to attend as many AA meetings as possible. This will not only take time away from you so you can't drink, but also provide a support mechanism for you. One of the first things you want to do is to get a sponsor.
If you fail to do any of these things, at some point, after you've lost everything you have, get arrested for fighting or driving while intoxicated, have sexual relations with someone who has AIDS or become homeless, you may then realize that you need to do something to get better.
You might also try stopping one addiction at a time, rather than trying to stop smoking at the same time you're trying to quit drinking.
I sense that even though you speak the words, you are still somewhat in denial and until you overome that you'll do your own thing rather than allowing others to point you in the right direction.
If you ask for help locally, you'll get it. But you won't find any easy answers in this forum.
