MRI OF THE BRAIN

by jafri, Jul 15, 2008 02:09AM
MY WIFE*S REPORTS AS UNDER;

IMPRESSION;

THERE IS AN ABNORMAL SIGNAL INTENSITY AREA IN THE LEFT BASAL GANGILIA. THIS REPRESENT EITHER DILATEDE VIRCHOW ROBIN SPACE ON AN UNDERLYING REMOTE ISCHAEMIC INFARCT. CLINICAL CORRELATION IS SUGGESTED.

MINIMAL HIGH SIGNAL IN THE PERIVENTICULAR REGION COULD ALSO REPRESENT MILD ISCHAEMIC CHANGES.

THERE IS EXPANSION OF FLOOR OF THE SELLA.

PITUITARY STALK IS EXTENDING UPTO ITS BASE.

APPEARANCES ARE MOST PROBABLY DUT TO EMPTY SELLA TURCICA.

CONTRAST ENHANCED SCAN IS RECOMMENDED.

PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT THIS AT MY EMAIL ADDRESS ***@****

THANKS.

Hi,

What symptoms does your wife have? How old is she?
MRI shows ischemic areas in the brain. These ischemic areas could be as are a result of multiple strokes.
Empty sella turcica can occur due to enlargement of pituitary gland as a result of pregnancy or endocrine disorder. It is often associated with thyroid disorders, obesity, raised intracranial tension.
A correlation with clinical symptoms will help in making an exact diagnosis.
