Irritated Penile Tip

About 11 weeks ago i had unprotected sex with a girl Id met from school only time ive had sex.  After diligently checking myself for any symptoms of STD's for weeks i began to notice a constant need to urinate and after i felt as if i needed to again also a slight pain on the tip.  The skin on the shaft of my penis seemed irritated as well as the head.  However nothing ever appeared blister-like or wart-like just like a mild rug burn.  I saw my Doc and he said the irritation was nothing more than being irritated by rubbing against my underwear but prescribed me Doxycycline for a week to put my mind at ease.  The Doxy did nothing and after a return trip to the Doc he gave me Cipro 500 because he thought the constant need to urinate and slight pain was from a UTI.  I have now finished the Cipro and still have slight pain at the tip of my penis although need to urinate often is gone.  Ive scheduled an appt with a urologist to get a second opinion to put my mind at ease about HPV and HSV.  Should I be worried.  What else could it be.  The pain isnt excruciating just annoying and it messes with me psychologically.  The pain also seems to come about when im sitting, laying, sweating, it may also be important to note that the pain started when I had ejaculated during the night and not cleaned because of my sleep.  I woke up in discomfort.  I have also ruptured my urethra playing football about 2 years ago.  Any help or advice would be appreciated.

This discussion is related to Irritated tip of penis? Or some kind of std?.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.  Do i need to wait a full twelve weeks to have this blood test done.  And is there anything i can do to be sure about not having either HPV or HSV.  I dont want to take anything into my new relationship I would be devastated if I infected someone.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

There are several factors involved here: The burning pain may be secondary to a previous trauma, may be infectious, and may be a dermatitic skin reaction. In your case, these three are possible differentials. At this point, I do not think it is HSV or HPV. Although the absence of a rash or bumps on the skin does not necessarily rule out an infection by HSV or HPV. These viruses may be present for years without skin manifestations. Although, as in cases of HSV, viral shedding may occur even if the patient is asymptomatic. A blood test may be done (determine antibodies) to see if an acute infection is present.
