does welbutrin make you gain weight?

by lisapierce, Jul 15, 2008 03:24PM
? (constant ed recovery battle) if i switch anti-depressants, is it just that simple- to switch? *celexa 40mg for 4 years*
i am kinda wanting to get off of them, but at the same time i am very afraid of mental side effects. i had a really bad experience with trazadone, and i do NOT ever want to feel that ever again. (it gave me the scariest and longest anxiety attack i have ever had) i dont want to take anything, but i am scared that maybe i am nuts and NEED to be on something. or just successfully brainwashed into thinking so.? if i decide to switch to something different, what happens, or is it better to not be on anything??????

If you switch make sure you talk to your Doctor about it first.  Some drugs are important to taper off first.  I lost weight on Welbutrin but it seemed to make my anxiety worse not better.  As for whether or not you should be off drugs all together, that is a personal decision that you need to weigh pros and cons about.  For me being off drugs and taking omega 3's, exercising and doing EFT and other natural forms of healing has been the best thing I have done for myself

thank you so much for your post! i am glad you said what you did about anxiety---- i have nasty anxiety- and dont want anything to make it worse. i also am wanting to do the whole 'natural' thing. i would like to know more about EFT, if you have time. for anxiety at night, i have found a few herbal suppliments that are a million times better than xanax, ect. no morning 'hangovers'. i so far have ended up halfing my celexa to 20mgs/night, and added nothing except herbal sleep aids. thank you for your post- you seem to be headed where i want to go!

I think Wellbutin is one of the only meds than can actually help you lose weight.  Its a stimulant.  Im on it now for the 2nd time in my life, and think I need to get off.  I went back on it because I was severly depressed, but I also gained so much weight from all the other meds.  Zoloft, Paxil, Effexor.. BUT.. like "Kimidawn" said, it may make your anxiety worse like its doing to me (I think).  So Iv been taking more xanax..

Whats this herbal stuff you're talking about?!
