IGG TESTS

by Jay22706, Jul 15, 2008 04:59PM
Over 2 years ago I got a rash on my penis.  I was sick, and then a little while after I got sick, my penis started itching and tingling.  It ended up just being sort of flaky and itchy, and it burned too.  There was a  little scab on it as well...No blister or pus or anything like that.  I thought it might have been herpes, so I went to the doctor and he suspected it could have been, but wasn't 100% sure.  I took the HSV1/2 IGG type-specific test, and it was negative.  This was about 7 months after I had sex with anyone.  About a year after that, I got itchy down south again, and it was just that, itchy and annoying.  I was so concerned about what these two incidents were, so I took another HSV1/2 IGG type-specific test. It came out negative again.  (the last test was over two years without having sex with anyone)...Can i rule out herpes as a cause?  And any idea of what other things could have caused these symptoms?  How accurate would these tests be if I took them 7 months after sex, and then again 2 years after sex? (No sex in between) And they both came out negative.  Thanks!

those tests/duration periods are very accurate. if it is neg at 7 months and at 2 years... i'm not sure to why the provider gave you the test considering there was no chance of exposure.

a number of non-std related things can happen down south... ask your dr about it if its a major concern. ever hear of the term "jock itch"?
