What is the consistency of the lump? Does it move or is it fixed?
Are you on hormone replacement therapy?
This lump could possibly be an abscess due to breast infection or mastitis, however other possibilities like breast cancer cannot be ruled out completely.
I would suggest you to schedule an appointment with your obgyn and undergo a thorough breast exam. You may also need to undergo an ultrasound or a mammogram. Meanwhile you can take OTC painkillers for pain. Do keep us posted!
I have seen a change in the lump and could use your advice if you don't mind. It is still firm and fixed. I put a hot compress on it and the pain has dissipated a bit. I am noticing that it now has a canal leading off of it that seems to be swollen. I am really thinking that I have a clogged mammary duct. Any home remedies you could suggest? I will not have health insurance till Aug. 1st.
thank you
How are you?
You can continue with warm compresses. Apart from that you can wear a good support bra as it will keep your breasts more secure and reduce the discomfort.
Also in the night try not to sleep on the affected side, this will also help reduce the breast discomfort and keep the swelling down.
