is it herpes?

by qazwsx123, Jul 15, 2008 09:49PM
I have never had sex yet have experienced oral sex. The last time was in july 07. however in january 08 I noticed something on my vagina that hurt. I went to the doctor and he took a swab of the blister. He is not the type of dr to get into details or explain much. He said my test came back negative but the blister was definitely herpes. Is this possilbe or sound familiar? I have had blood tests since and still negative. I have read that it is possible for this to happen but I am just not sure. since then I have not had any visible outbreaks but I still feel what I think is discomfort from herpes. How can I be sure it is herpes?

You may want to get another Dr if the swab and blood tests came back negative and he is still insisting you are positive. Let me guess, you are on drug therapy by his prescriptions right? if all your tests came back negative then believe that and find another Dr.

well re my confusion comes in. i did get a second opinion and she said its NOT impossible for these things to come out negative and i could still have it. When I told the guy he went to get tested and they said he had to have a sore to get tested cause it is very hard to detect otherwise and the sore has to be only a few days old. I was told to wait until I have another "visible" outbreak. I am just extremely confused.. Thanks for the help!

Negative Swab Test and Negative Blood tests would suggest you do NOT have herpes. I agree to see if you get another outbreak but at the same time, if you never get one which is entirely possible even though you could have it isn't something you probably want to do so go get another test done and see if that one comes in negative.. If so, these Dr's are barking up the wrong tree!! HSV can be missed about 10% of the time but missing it 3 times would be really odd.
