This patient support community is for discussions relating to premature babies.
Be nice to the nurses and ask them any questions you have. They really know a lot and are used to parents asking lots of questions and can explain everything that they are doing to help your babies grow and be healthy. With other little ones at home, it will probably be hard for you to be at the hospital, but try to be there for feedings as much as you can. Are they breathing on their own? From your pics, it looks like maybe they were on a vent initially. Once they are of oxygen and out of the isolettes, things will move pretty quickly, so that is the time to really be sure you are ready for them to come home. Preemies can be more challenging than a full term baby, and with 2 at once, it can get very overwhelming. Our hospital had a social worker who we met with several times. See if that sort of service is offered for you, because they can help with some of transitioning as they move closer to going home.
Right now, just try to relax and enjoy them. Hold them when you can. They know your voice, so you can comfort them by just talking to them too. Take it one day at a time.
Keep us posted and feel free to PM me. I also have an older daughter who was 2 when my twins were born, so I can relate to that added stress as well! You sound like you are doing great so far, so hang in there!!
