At any rate, if there's any question at all then you should take a hpt. If the test comes out negative then wait a week or so and take it again. It's also more accurate to take a blood test at the doctor's if you want to go that route.
It certainly is possible that you could be entering perimenopause but you should be getting more symptoms than a missed period, I'd think. Usually, with perimenopause your periods become more erractic over a period of time, you get hot flashes and trouble sleeping.
It might be a good idea to talk with your doctor if you are indeed entering menopause as there are medications, etc. that can help. Also, my gyn doc told me that they often times put perimenopause women on birth control pills to help stabilize the hormones, etc. It seems to help. And it would certainly ease your mind about any unplanned pregnancies!
