cherry angiomas?

by phthaloe, Jul 16, 2008 10:22PM
Hi, I have a question about my skin.  I don't have health insurance and when i go to the doctor, they kinda brush me off and say it looks fine.  But I have a few small red dots on my skin.  They are on various body parts.  The first one I noticed was on the outer section near the base of my pointer finger.  It was smooth with my skin.  It went away on it's own so I thought it might be a bite. It was tiny and bright bright red.  The second one I noticed was on my thigh. Its the size of a dot and almost smooth, but slightly raised.  Recently I've noticed another 3 on my legs, one on my arm and 3 on my torso.  They are bright bright red.  I'm a 27 year old Female who doesn't go out in the sun without sunblock, of white decent. I've done some internet research which points to cherry angiomas... but most internet pages say they are most commonly on people over 40 and found on the torso.  Can this be something else?  Is there anything related to skin disorders or cancers?  They do not bother me at all, are not itchy or irritated.  They are just bright red.  Thanks

Hi

I understand your concern. You are young and cherry angiomas may not be likely here. However, based on your post , you are trying to tell us that the spots look like cherry angiomas. Thus, this may be a differential here. It is best to ascertain, that you have not picked on the area or injured the area. Also, we may have to rule out a bleeding problem here such as a petechiae or a rash brought about by decreased platelet count. I suggest that you have blood tests done to determine complete blood count and levels of coagulation eg PT, aPTT and INR.
