Famciclovir

by Bamm, Jul 16, 2008 11:59PM
I just recently found Famciclovir in my boyfriend's medicine cabinet. The original dispense date is 5/8/08 with 10 refills.  The directions say take two tablets daily and they are 250 mg.  We have been dating for 3 years, and have  had unprotected sex for the last two.  I haven't had any conversations regarding Herpes, and he has NEVER told me anything.  I am just in shock right now wondering how to handle the situation, and to ask for some help from someone to tell me if this is like a solution to prevent him from future outbreaks, and just trying to get some answers.

Thank you for your input and information!!

I say tonight - confront him head on about it. Tell him you have something to talk about with him and tell him you found his famvir prescription in the medicine cabinet.  Ask him if he's on suppressive therapy for oral herpes or genital herpes. Tell him it's his one chance to be 100% honest with you.

I also encourage you to contact your own provider and ask them to order up a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your own status is.

Also the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a terrific resource for learning more about herpes, treatments and how to reduce your own risk.

After your talk - feel free to come back to ask more questions you might have too :)
