Stage 2 need Chemo?

by luvluv, Jul 17, 2008 05:43AM
I had surgery to remove a large mucinous tumor and they removed my omentum, left ovary & nearby lymph nodes too. The pathologist says it is stage 2. My doctor says it's 50/50 on need for further treatments or therapies. What should I do? I am 28 years old and married with no children but, I'd like to have some.

You need to see a GYN/Oncologist immediately. With Stage 2 I am surprised that they have not done a complete hysterectomy.  Normal protocal for chemo is stage 1C and above.

My ability to have children was taken away by OvCa....and it is and was very hard to deal with and accept....but, my surgery is what gave me my life.

Please let us know how things go and what the GYN/Oncologist says.

Best of luck,
Pam

nyc lady is right. Chemo is generally done for stage 1C and above. I had stage 1, grade 2 (or B, I suppose)  and chemo was optional. I opted for it because I did not have an onc/gyn do the surgery (it's a long story). I hope that the chemo got what if anything the surgeon missed. (If the doctor said it was stage 1, grade 2, then it is 50/50--could you have misunderstood?)

You are in my prayers

If you have Stage II Ovarian Cancer, you must have chemo.  I was diagnosed last October with it and have had the full rounds of chemo. You need to have a full hysterectomy too.  Please read up on the disease and make some serious decisions about the battle you have been thrown into by your diagnosis. God Bless!
