unexplained weakness and atrophy in the left leg

by lmom, Jul 17, 2008 03:18PM
My 15 year old daughter devoloped a weakness in her left foot during lacrosse season (no injury). We have had her to both neurologist and nerosurgeons(multiple) in the last three months.  Her left leg has atrophied and looks like there is very little muscle in it.  She has had 2 EMG's showing nerve root damage in the s1. Mylogam showing spondilothesis(sp?) in her L5,S1 grade 1. She has not had a MRI due to a choclear implant. Bloodwork sent to Baylor School of medicine shows no dna abnomalities.   Neorosurgen said the emg and Mylgram don't really explain the weakness.  Has anyone heard of anything like this and do you have any suggestions.  We are runnung out of test. Thanks!
