Pressure in my urethra

by manda14, Jul 17, 2008 03:45PM
Hello,
I am a 37 healthy woman except, for the past six months or so I have aquired a feeling of pressure in my urethra, and frequent urination. At home UTI kits always test positive for blood cells but negative for nitrates. This usually lasts for 10 days or so and then resolves itself.I was a frequent flyer at the DR.s thinking I had a UTI. I never have a burning feeling though.Urinalysis always negative for infection, this time however I am going on 14 days with it. I have been to a urologist(2 months ago) who did a cycostopy(normal). At the time of my visit however I was not symptomatic. I had an ultrasound of my kidneys and pelvic region that also came back normal. My Dr. thought perhaps it was hormonal and put me on oral contraceptives. I feel like Im constantly "holding it". When I do give in tho the urge I have not much to show for it. I feel ok for about a half hour then the feeling returns. In the beginning of this current spell, I had ache in my kidneys and a very bloated feeling in my abdomen, with some pain. I took 7 days of bactrim thinking I had a bladder infection. When my period came, those symptoms went away and I am left with this pressure and frequency. When this occurs its usually the week or so before my period..this time its before ,during and after. What kind of tests are left? Should I go back to my GP?  Any suggestions? I have read about I.C. but I dont have the constant pain and wouldnt the cycostopy have shown this even if I wasnt symptomatic? HELP!
