If I am not careful - just breathe in when I have food or water in my mouth and it hits the back of my throat ,. or take a deep breath when coughing, my throat closes and I cannot breathe. I make an horrible sound, try to relax, bend over a chair and it takes at least 30 seconds to gradually relax and open. I have a constant drip down the back of my throat.
I see a GP and pulmonary specialist and neither has mentioned the epiglotis as being involved - or the drip. I now use an inhaler for the lungs and have to eat slowly so as to not whiff back any thing in my mouth.
The last time this happened I was alone and couldn't get it to stop, just took the phone off the hook, breathed into it, unlocked the door and waited for the ambulance. Almost passed out.
Any suggestions to keep this from happening?
