Skin growth

by farrelma, Jul 17, 2008 06:26PM
I have a strange something on my perineum (between anus and testicles): it's been there for at least a couple years, currently it is about a quarter inch in diameter. When i first noticed it I thought it was a normal mole, over time I thought it was probably a wart. I was looking at those freezing things you can use to get rid of warts, and saw that you shouldn't use them unless you're positive you're freezing off a wart, and I'm not sure. It's a little darker/redder than I thought warts were. I'm fairly certain it's not a genital wart: I've only ever had safe sex, and it appeared while I was still a virgin anyway. Anyway, a bit of paranoia prompted me to post here. I took a picture, here's the link:

There's nothing offensive in the picture (ie. my anus), just my skin, the growth, and my fingers which can provide a useful size comparison.

Any help you can give would be appreciated. I'll probably still go to the doctor sometime soon anyway (due for a checkup), but I was getting a little anxious.

Hi,

There is a possibility that this lump is just a sebaceous cyst or an ingrown hair follickle.
I would suggest you to try warm Epsom salt baths and see if they help.

If it does not improve please get it checked by a dermatologist. Do keep us posted!
