Neuropathy caused by Hypothyroidism/lesion.

by missouriangel, Jul 17, 2008 07:25PM
I've been dealing with a thyroid lesion since last July. I've been really sick since Jan. this year, with all sorts of illnesses. On July 5th both of my legs fell asleep and haven't woke up. That night they caught on fire. I have been in so much pain since. My doctor is treating me with a cocktail of Topamax and Neurontin. It is getting worse and my doctor is increasing my dose of Neurotin. I started experiencing leg twitching and shaking while I sleep. The night before last I woke up screaming, it felt like my right leg was broke at the knee and it was sticking up in the air. All night long every 15-20 I would wake up and have to mentally tell myself my leg wasn't broken. I feel like I'm going crazy. Yesterday my left arm went to sleep. It's not on fire, thank God. My doctor is scheduling an EMG. I was just wondering if they treat my Hypothyroidism will this go away? Can this be cured? Also what is an EMG test, what do they do?
