Pain during urination can be due to a UTI or from prostatitis.
A urinalysis would identify whether there is infection and the type of organism causing the infection.
Additionally, you may be required to undergo tests to rule out STDs.
Prostatitis, UTI, or STDs can be managed with antibiotic treatment.
It is unlikely that the cause of your symptoms is cancer, but the possibility will be ruled out during examination by your urologist.
Until consultation with your urologist, you can do some supportive measures to aid alleviate symptoms.
Keep fluid intake in excess of 2000 ml per day.
Avoid prostate irritants such as caffeine, alcohol, citrus fruits, spicy foods, etc.
Sit in a hot bath for 10-15 min daily.
