aching in bladder area

by Corky43, Jul 17, 2008 08:15PM
In 1993 I had a hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo- oophoorectomy and anterior and posterio repair.
For the past several years (lifting grandkids) I  have been experiencing bladder leakage. I had a cystoscope 2 years ago and was told that needed repair again.   But I  have chosen to wait.   Could prolapsed bladder cause the aching that has just recently surfaced and awakens me at night???? I did not have the aching at the time of the cystoscope.  I have frequent urination and urgency.  Sitting seems to aggravate the situation.  Kegels have not worked.  At least 3 times a year I have foul, cloudy urine and  have had urine tests which have not shown any infection recently .however last year I had e-coli in urine.  Cleared up with antibiotics.  I also have Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown origin...(MGUS) since 1989 (last immunoelectrophoresis was 2007  along with 24 hour urine which was normal) The testing still indicated MUGUS.  I have hypertension controlled with DiovanHCT 160/ 25. (this is the only medication that I take). I do drink coffee but no carbonated beverages. Should I see a urologist or gynecologist???

Hi,
Cystoscopy is an investigation to diagnose cause of bladder and urethral problems.

Similarly, monoclonal gammopathy is an indication of underlying disease, the differentials of which include connective tissue disorders, multiple myeloma, etc.

Frequent urination and urgency can be attributed to UTIs or disorders specific to the bladder, such as interstitial cystitis or overactive bladder.

Coffee, alcohol, carbonated beverages, and citrus fruits and juices tend to aggravate bladder irritation and inflammation.

You will need to consult your urologist for an evaluation of the underlying cause of these problems.

Additionally, you may be required to consult a gynecologist as well, if your symptoms are associated with vaginal discharge or irritation.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
Regards
