Have you been diagnosed with Schizo-affective disorder? Sometimes, if bipolar AND schizophrenic, the patient will be diagnosed schizo-affective disorder, because BPD is a mood disorder, while Schizophrenia is an identity disorder- and it has been noted that the two maladies have similar traits as far as dissociation, psychosis, etc.
Anyway, I listed the conditions in which you stated you had been diagnosed because it is VERY important to recognize that our emotional and physical beings are ONE, not separate entities- and two, our bodies are always talking to us. Did you have these mental problems before having your first seizure, or are these mental problems kind of a symptom of having to live with a seizure disorder?
Also, I would venture a guess that since your seizures began with eclampsia, your thresh hold lowered and that very first seizure wrecked havoc up there and started you on a pattern of seizures. I'm not a doctor, or medical personnel, but I have knowledge of mental illness, and have 2 family members that are epileptic.
You asked, "What is my condition actually called"? Unfortunately, since the term Epilepsy just refers to (I believe) 2 or more seizures within a certain period of time, you are probably epileptic. Very broad term, I know. Without knowing your lifestyle, eating habits, weight, mental stability and whether you have hormone issues its tough to know how to control it besides getting on anti seizure meds like Lamictal or Tegretol.
Hormones definitely play a role in seizure activity, so I would have a look at that- Were you ever on Depo Privera for birth control?
There are just too many possibilities here, as to what could be exacerbating the situation. Keep us informed, and good luck.
