labrynthitis? or From massage????

by sgv64, Jul 17, 2008 11:31PM
I went for a relaxing facial and neck massage, I recently had viral bronchits the prior week which was finally gone.  I arrived at home and took a nap I woke up 1/2 hr later to ... The room appeared upside down, i was leaning to the left side I tried to get up and walk and fell., I thought I was having a stroke as my left side of my face was numb I felt a cold feeling down the back of my throat and severly dizzy.  I called 911 and was hospitalized for 3 days with lab results negative, MRI Brain negative and Cat Scan negative.  I then was sent home in a wheel chair and unable to walk for a week 1/2.  I then went to my primary MD he prescribed amoxicillin 500mg for 10 days to take along with antivert I recv from the MD in the hospital.  I then went to see a Nuerologist who said it is just a virus along with labrynthitis.  I then went to see a ENT who said it was a severe case of labrynthitis that effected the nerves in my face that is the reason for the numbness.  Today is 7/15 and I still have facial numbness and vertigo.  I am taking Vitamin B12 B1 B6 and Zirtec.  Now that I read your information about the massage could that be what happend? And am I ever going to feel normal????  Help

Hi,

How are you?
A massage is unlikely to have caused these symptoms as these symptoms were very severe.
Labyrinthitis occurs due to viral or bacterial infection of the inner ear. Sometimes it can be as a result of head injury or allergy.
It usually follows an upper respiratory tract infection. It can cause anxiety or severe panic attacks along with dizziness.
A positive attitude and regular medications usually helps a patient recover fully. Take care!
