Flea and Tick baths

by Charliedarling, Jul 18, 2008 12:48AM
My Dog went to the vet for a flea and tick bath.  When he returned he had eye abrasions and was foaming from the mouth just after we got him home?  Can these baths cause this and the emergency clinic said his skin was very red. Thank you for your help

Flea and tick baths are insecticides and can be very irritating to the skin and eyes.  Some dogs are more sensitive than others, just as some people.  Some dog's can even be allergic to the products.  I am glad you took your dog to an emergency clinic for treatment.  Treatment will involve rinsing his shin multiple times to remove any topical residue, and giving injectable or oral antiinflammatories and antihistamines and other medications.
