Do you remember any triggering factors around the time of onset of your symptoms?
Do you have nay pain related to the groin or pelvic structures?
Has a PSA been done for evaluating the prostate cancer.
You can discuss the possibility of starting prostate -specific painkillers or drugs like detrol that provide pain relief.
Meanwhile, you can focus on avoiding prostate irritants, such as caffeine, alcohol, citrus fruits, and spicy foods.
If your urologist will not see you, you can ask your GP to prescribe these drugs so that you can have some relief from your symptoms.
Sitting in a hot bath for 10-15 min twice daily (or as often as possible) can also help with reducing the urgency.
Causes of increased frequency and urgency include iterstitial cystitis and overactive bladder which can be managed with specific drugs and not antibiotics.
You can discuss these differentials with your urologist when you next meet and can follow up accordingly.
